Google Guidelines for Ranking a Website

Google

You might be thinking about what and how guidelines can affect my page ranking on Google. Well, to be on the safer side and not getting spammed from Google you should follow these guidelines laid by Google.

To rank higher, get a good audience, be discovered by a huge number of people. You should follow all that is being said by Google, after all, Google is providing you a platform to display your content globally.

So, let’s dive in the word “Guideline” and learn what Google is asking from us

Google guidelines

There Are 4 Types Of Guidelines That Google Asks Us To Follow For Ranking In SERPs

  1. Webmaster Guidelines
  2. General Guidelines
  3. Content Specific Guidelines
  4. Quality Guidelines

1.Webmaster Guidelines

The Webmaster rules are general procedures to assist your website to rank in Google Search, just quality rule.If these rules are not followed, Google can remove your webpage or it will never rank in top 3.

Syndicated Content

The content which is utterly copied and has no originality as such in it. Such as : Articles copied from a different source with no added or minimal changes from original content.

 Doorway sites

Where one creates multiple links redirecting to the same site, same page every time a user clicks on it. These are considered to be malpractices which are suggested not to be done if you wish to be ranked.

2.General Guidelines

The accompanying general rules are best practices for having your site appear and put its best self forward in Google.

Help Google find your pages

Putting crawlable links (links with Href or any proper tags), Provide Google sitemap.xml file and with robot.txt file too, that will help Google send in crawler and start the process for indexing on SERPs.

Help Google understand your pages

Create information rich websites, with best in class content which of course is not spammy and user intended. Make sure your title complements alt tag, use of tags as mentioned earlier is a great way of making your site more potent to appear in SERPs.

Help visitors use your Website

Try to use text instead of images to display important names, content, or links. If you must use images for textual content, use the “alt” attribute to include a few words of descriptive text.

3.Content Specific Guidelines

Quality content as per google guidelines

Tips for specific content types on your site, including images, video, AMP, AJAX, and mobile-friendly sites.

General best practices, to enable specific features for your site follow updates from Google so that you have rich experience creating content for your users, be it using Images, videos, and blogs.

4.Quality Guidelines

Here are a few listed for your benefit and to help you rank better in SERPs :

Automatically generated content

Well you have to neglect that one, where Google clearly mentioned that it will not accept programmed content which is just being put up to manipulate rankings and not useful for users who access Google.

What it means is Google will take action over your website and might end up blocking you from even existing on “Search Engine Result pages” ever.

Link schemes

So, you think you’ll simply buy up links and rank better on Search Engine, well “It’s Forbidden” , and “Google” won’t let you use it and that is for the benefit for all the consumers of services provided by Google.

Link schemes are any links that intend to manipulate the Google ranking of that particular page e.g. Buying links from some website, exchanging links for this sake, etc. These practices are forbidden by Google.

Paid Links/Buying Links

Google and most other web search tools use connections to decide. A site’s positioning in Google list items is somewhat founded on examination of those destinations that connect to it. Connection based examination is a very helpful method of estimating a webpage’s worth, and has significantly improved the nature of web search. Both the amount and, all the more critically, the nature of connections tally towards this rating.

Not all paid connections disregard our rules. Purchasing and selling joins is a typical piece of the economy of the web when accomplished for promoting purposes, and not for control of indexed lists. Connections bought for publicizing ought to be assigned in that capacity.

Links that are bought should be marked as sponsored so that Google should have knowledge about that.

Cloaking

Act of introducing distinctive substance or URLs to human clients and web indexes. Cloaking is viewed as an infringement of Google’s Webmaster Guidelines since it gives search clients unexpected outcomes in comparison to what they anticipated.

A crime of content in Google’s book of rules.

Doorways

Having numerous area names or pages designated at explicit districts that channel clients to one page. Pages produced to channel guests into the real usable or pertinent segment of your locales. Significantly comparable pages that are nearer to indexed lists than a plainly characterized, browseable chain of command.

Irrelevant Keyword

Using irrelevant keywords is not allowed. Don’t stuff too many keywords just because you know they rank better, are cheap but work and are unethical, so stop doing that or Google will have a better answer to give.

Putting Malicious Substances On Site

Changing or controlling the area of substance on a page, with the goal that when a client believes they’re tapping on a specific connection or catch the snap is really enlisted by an alternate piece of the page.

Infusing new advertisements or pop-ups on pages, or trading out existing promotions on a page with various advertisements, or advancing or introducing programming that does as such. Remembering undesirable documents for a download that a client mentioned. Introducing malware, trojans, spyware, promotions, or infections on a client’s PC. Changing a client’s program landing page or search inclinations without the client’s educated assent.

Reminder

Don’t use unfair means and shortcuts to rank because Google will detect it all. Just focus on the quality and follow the right ways to promote your business.
